2019 Style Recap

Goodbye 2019 – Hello 2020! It’s the 20’s y’all! Who remembers Y2K, when we all thought our computers would crash, planes would fall from the sky and pandemonium would reign supreme? And here we are, using our phones as computers, our watches to count our steps and stay fit, and this thing called social media to keep up with friends and family, share funny memes and when you’re a blogger – share outfits and style tips! I started 2019 on a self imposed “shopping diet”, mixing up pieces I had in my closet along with pieces from Stitch Fix and things I found on sale. I’d say I was about 50% successful on my diet. Oh well, I tried. And I’m hopping on the wagon again! But in the meantime, take a look at some of my favorite outfits from the past year.

Goodbye 2019 - Hello 2020! It’s the 20’s y’all! Who remembers Y2K, when we all thought our computers would crash, planes would fall from the sky and pandemonium would reign supreme? And here we are, using our phones as computers, our watches to count our steps and stay fit, and this thing called social media to keep up with friends and family, share funny memes and when you’re a blogger - share outfits and style tips! Jackets My shopping diet was quite the challenge for me! I had to find ways to wear what I already owned in a new and different way. I have this weird hang-up about wearing the same thing twice! One of my favorite tricks for re-styling pieces I already have in my closet is to add a jacket. Here, I’m styling my favorite faux-suede jacket with different tops and pants to change up the look. I love how jackets can add instant personality to an outfit. Pop a vibrant jacket over a basic top and bottom like I did here. I can’t wait to wear that hot pink number again! It makes me happy! Maxi Dresses I also enjoyed my Maxi Dress Monday challenge! The two maxis on the left are from previous Stitch Fix boxes, and the third outfit is a simple black maxi skirt, black tee and white denim jacket. I tied the black skirt just for fun! I love the yellow maxi so much I ordered it in a blue and coral combo for my upcoming trip to Maui! Another great source for maxi dresses is Zulily. You’ll find maxis at bargain prices, just be sure to check often, as their inventory and offerings change often. Graphic Tees If you follow me on Instagram, or have read my blog for awhile, then you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of the graphic tee! They’re pretty much my weekend go-to, and I love to style them with jackets and cardigans. I’m just going to claim right now that graphic tees are never gonna be on my shopping diet! I can’t resist a good one! I usually find these at my local boutiques and online (my favorite online boutique is Tee for the Soul). I’ve also found quite a few at Zulily . Dresses I wore a few dresses this year, mainly in the summer. An a-line silhouette is best for my pear shape, since I’m smaller on top than bottom. My favorite places to shop for dresses are Old Navy, Versona and Chico’s. Old Navy is a great source for inexpensive little tee shirt style dresses that can be dressed up or down! Animal Prints Oh yeah. Have you heard? I’m a HUGE fan of the animal print. Give me all the animal prints! Cheetah, leopard, and snake oh my! I’ve shared that Leopard is a Neutral, and claim that with all my heart (and wardrobe) Look how well it mixes with a variety of patterns and colors, and yes graphic tees! Be sure to see my December Stitch Fix Reveal for a peek at the beautiful leopard cardigan I received! As a reminder, I show off my outfits almost every work day, so please look for me on Instagram and my Facebook page. I would love to get social with you! I’ve had quite a year - full of ups and downs with a little drama thrown in. But I’ve been so fortunate to have very supportive family and friends who encouraged me and lifted me up when I felt like giving up. Through it all I clung to my motto: Choose Joy! That alone means I had a great year! I’m wishing you all a very happy and blessed New Year. Thank you so much for supporting my blog and encouraging me with your kind comments. You mean the world to me!
Chico’s Suede Moto Jacket Styled Two Ways

My shopping diet was quite the challenge for me! I had to find ways to wear what I already owned in a new and different way. I have this weird hang-up about wearing the same thing twice! One of my favorite tricks for re-styling pieces I already have in my closet is to add a jacket. I also enjoyed my Maxi Dress Monday challenge! The two maxis on the left are from previous Stitch Fix boxes, and the third outfit is a simple black maxi skirt, black tee and white denim jacket. I tied the hem of the black skirt just for fun! I love the yellow maxi so much I ordered it in a blue and coral combo for my upcoming trip to Maui. Another great source for maxi dresses is Zulily. Graphic Tees

A few of my favorite graphic tees. If you’ve seen Yellowstone you’ll get that yellow one!

If you follow me on Instagram, or have read my blog for awhile, then you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of the graphic tee! They’re pretty much my weekend go-to, and I love to style them with jackets and cardigans. I’m just going to claim right now that graphic tees are never gonna be on my shopping diet! a-line dresses for the pear shape

Animal Prints

leopard print outfits

Oh yeah. Have you heard? I’m a HUGE fan of the animal print. Give me all the animal prints! Cheetah, leopard, and snake oh my! I’ve shared that Leopard is a Neutral, and claim that with all my heart (and wardrobe) Look how well it mixes with a variety of patterns and colors, and yes graphic tees!

animal print cardigans

I especially love longer length animal print cardigans. Longer length cardigans are a great bit of camouflage for the hips, add the illusion of height, and make me feel instantly slimmer. They’re also a favorite way for me to add personality to an outfit when I column dress. Be sure to see my December Stitch Fix Reveal for a peek at the beautiful leopard cardigan I received!

Favorite Outfits of the Year

The next two outfits were my most favorited outfits on Instagram. I wore the sequin tee and Denizen jeans to the KISS concert this summer. I even got random compliments on the sparkly top during the concert! The second outfit was for a date night with the hubs, and features two pieces from Tee for the Soul. which is your favorite?

I wore this white sequin tee to the KISS concert in September. Fun and Sparkly!
Just a hint of leopard print in these perfectly distressed jeans.

I’ve had quite a year – full of ups and downs with a little drama thrown in.
