Red Hot Styles | February Stylish Monday Link-Up

Hello and happy February y’all! Apparently the groundhog saw his shadow, and spring is right around the corner (not that any of that means a hill of beans down south-our weather doesn’t listen to a groundhog!) I’m super excited to share this month’s Stylish Monday post, because it’s our Stylish anniversary! And just like last year’s first post, we’re going red, showing you our favorite ways to wear the color red. Read on, and let’s take a look at my stylish sisters smokin’ hot red looks.

MY RED LOOKS | THREE WAYS TO STYLE RED FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Relaxed Date Night Outfit

red sweater and graphic tee

I thought it would be fun to style this cute graphic tee from Tee for the Soul with my favorite cheetah print pants. It’s a perfect option if you idea of a date night is more pizza and beer than steak and wine! I think the red sweater adds a nice pop of this month’s color to the outfit. Cardigans are a great way to change up an outfit, and the longer length ones are totally my jam. I’m always on the lookout for more!

Galentine’s Day Lunch Look

Leopard kimono and Valentine's graphic tee

Pucker up, buttercup! Here’s another fun option for you. If you’re not comfortable with a patterned pant, try this look. Just pop on a cute graphic tee and throw your favorite kimono over it. (both pieces are also from Tee for the Soul) I styled this look with my favorite Denizen jeans and boots. And now, I’m ready for a Galentine’s Day lunch with my girls. I admit, I’m a little obsessed with graphic tees, and have styled them quite a bit here on the blog. Read my 2019 Style Recap for more ideas.

Dressing for a Casual Valentine’s Dinner

Leopard dress and red cardigan

Leopard is my love language! If your Valentine’s Day plans include a lovely dinner out with your sweetie, then this leopard dress and that same sweater I styled above are the perfect choice. Add some over the knee boots and you’re all set. The a-line dress shape is my go to for my pear shape. Here are a few leopard print dresses, I did the shopping for you!

A Cozy, but Dressy Valentine’s Outfit

Chunky sweater and foiled pants

Finally, I’d love to show you this outfit I pulled together from some serious bargain shopping. The sweater was an extra 40% off the sale price, and the foiled bootcut pants are thrifted and are Chico’s brand! I love the chunky sweater! It reminds me of the blush colored one I styled with my sequin skirt during the holidays. This will be my outfit when the hubs and I go out for Valentine’s dinner.

Take Care of YOUR Heart!

Last year I discussed the importance of monitoring your heart health, a subject I take very seriously. I started working out at the end of last year, not for my looks, though that’s certainly a welcome side effect, but for my heart health and bone health. I’m going to admit that I am not that girl who yearns for the gym. Nope. I go to the gym after work, and  every afternoon, right before I leave for the day, I have to give myself a pep talk, convincing myself that I need to go. It’s become a nice habit now, but y’all, I’m not going for my gym-rat badge! It’s hard work! I haven’t lost weight, but I’ve definitely noticed a change in my body, and how my clothes fit. So that’s a win in my book. Here’s a few tips on getting started on your own fitness routine:

  • Get a fitness evaluation. My gym is associated with our local hospital, so the evaluation was free. It was disheartening when I got my results, but the trainer was very encouraging.
  • Make a plan. My trainer walked me through the gym, and devised a simple workout routine for me, which included weights and cardio. I told her that the gym was like a foreign country to me, and she patiently educated me on all the machines and the proper techniques.
  • Keep a fitness journal. Track your progress, and what you do each time you go. My gym provides a handy little chart, and each time I go, I make note of which machines I used and record the date. It’s so encouraging to see your progress!
  • Mix it up! If your gym offers classes in addition to the weights and machines, try them! Variety is the spice of life, and might help you fight the chance of getting bored.
  • Just move your body. Go for a walk. Get up from your desk. Stretch. Take the stairs. Park far from the store. Just move!
