2017 is almost in our rear view mirror y’all! It’s been an eventful year for me, both personally and also for my blog. I revived my blog from the archives in June, because I felt led to inspire other women to enjoy these prime years we call “mid-life”. I felt like I was also reviving myself as well, after struggling for a couple of years during the illness and loss of my parents. I wanted to bring back the blog to not only focus on fashion, but also the challenges and lifestyle events that happen in our midlife years. So as my blogging year winds down, I thought it would be fun to review the style posts that I featured on my Instagram feed. I use Instagram to highlight fashion and style for us gals over the age of forty. I hope you can relate to me and my style, and that you’ll feel inspired to look at your wardrobe in a fresh, fun way. Most of my Instagram posts feature what I wear to work each day, and my wardrobe is a mash up of casual mixed with professional styles. I generally shop Chico’s, Loft, Target, department stores like Dillards and Nordstrom and several local boutiques as well as my beloved Stitch Fix.

June 2017 – I was clearly having a pink moment. I have business meetings several times a month, so that’s when I usually wear sweaters or jackets. I have to dress a bit more professionally, and it gets so cold in the air conditioning! The joy of summertime in the south, freezing inside, burning up outside!

July 2017 – Still casual, with a touch of America! I hit the HUGE sale at Dillards and scored a few really pretty pieces that I mixed and matched well into the late summer. My favorite look this month was the beautiful poncho from a boutique in my hometown called Trendsetters. Find them on Instagram!

August 2017 – Back to School! The outfit in the larger pic below was from my August Stitch Fix. Those Liverpool pants are hands down my favorite pants. They fit so well, and I love the color. I started adding some fall colors into my outfits for work, even though it was still hot down here in Louisiana. I think the leopard print top and red pants is my favorite outfit from this group.

September 2017 – Wow! Now this is a variety! The dress and kimono are from Lularoe, and worn on a casual date night with the hubs. The other outfits were for work. The blue dress and adorable black top were from my August Stitch Fix.

October 2017 – Two big events this month: I cut my hair shorter and we took a vacation to New England. My favorite outfit here is the plaid jacket and polka dot top, both shopped from my closet from last year. It feels very professional and polished. I’m always so proud of myself when I can pull something out of the closet and mix it up in a whole new way!

November 2017 – I think the gold and black plaid top is my favorite from the month. It’s a classic look that just works. I literally chose that long rose duster so I could have something to wear with those adorable booties. That asymmetrical black/gray top was in a Stitch Fix I received last year. The larger image is from our fun Thanksgiving luncheon at work, so I decided to dress casually. (And yes I did gobble and wobble!)

December 2017 – Let the festivities begin! Most of these pieces are from local boutiques. I think the beige sweater and striped blue poncho sweater are from previous Stitch Fixes from years past. We had a couple of holiday events at work this month, so I dressed festively! I love that plaid reindeer top! It makes me smile.

So that’s my little Instagram fashion wrap-up for the year. I’m going to be celebrating Christmas with my son and daughter-in-law and their brand new baby boy (our third grandchild!). I’m sure my Instagram feed that week will NOT be very fashionable, but it sure will be happy!
And by the way, did you notice all the pieces I styled from Stitch Fix this year? I love having flexible pieces in my closet that I can pull out and wear for years. That’s a solid investment in style y’all! Click here if you’re ready to try Stitch Fix! You won’t regret it!
I’m wondering if I should do a wrap-up like this on the blog every month? What do you think? Which outfit was your favorite? Please leave a comment below and let me know!
Have a Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year!
You have the cutest poses! Thanks for the review, I needed a little style inspiration today!
Happy to help! Happy New Year!
As I inch closer to 40 I find my style has become “boring”. Looking at your choices and mix of classics and trendy pieces I feel I’m inspired to make more of an effort. I’m always scared of trends and usually stay away from them, but I think 2018 calls for a new change.
It’s so easy to get into a style rut, but I think if you have good basics, you can liven them up with a few trendy things. Have fun with it!
You’re so stylish! And I have to say, you look wonderful in pink! 🙂 – Corey
Thank you ma’am!
Super stylish!! I wish I had style like you! Maybe I need to subscribe to your blog and get some pointers!
Aww… Thanks!
You have so many great looks here! And you look stunning in all the deep maroon/purple/burgundy colors. Love it!
Thanks so much! Those were my go to colors this fall.
Merry Belated Christmas! What a fun way to help wrap up the year. I have definitely started branching out with clothes more this year – I want to document more of them next year!
