Holiday Fashion Capsule Wardrobe

Holiday Fashion Capsule Wardrobe

Okay. Who remembers holiday fashions in the 90’s? The beautiful (ugly) Christmas sweaters…The heavily embroidered jumpers… The plaid shirts tucked into hideously pleated khaki pants…Oh My! I distinctly remember making Christmas shirts for the whole family out of pre-printed Christmas fabric that I lovingly hand painted  and embellished with fabric paint and press on jewels. I’m pretty sure most of the designs were poinsettia, santa and teddy-bear related. I’m surprised my kids still don’t hold a grudge against me for them! And we wore them in public! On purpose! Well times have changed girls. You can still get your Holiday on, but in a less dated, and much cuter way. Read on for how I mixed and matched several basic pieces from my closet added different accessories, and turned them into fun holiday fashions… Continue reading “Holiday Fashion Capsule Wardrobe”

January Stitch Fix Reveal

January Stitch Fix Reveal

Tell me if you know the artist by these lyrics – Shake Your Bootie, Get Down Tonight, That’s the Way I Like It (uh huh uh huh). Yep. KC and the Sunshine Band. Pure poetry right there folks. My mama thought he was so dirty. I thought he was so cute. My high school BFF and I were even members of the KC and the Sunshine Band Fan Club back in the day. No shame in my disco game y’all. Anyway. I’m thrilled that he’s coming to town next month, and the hubs and I, along with some friends are going to the concert! EEEEK! I’m so stinking excited. My 16 year old inner teenager is seriously fangirling all over the place. I decided to see if my Stitch Fix stylist could help me out with something cute to wear to the concert, and she did NOT disappoint! Continue reading “January Stitch Fix Reveal”

2017 Style Review

2017 Style Review

2017 is almost in our rear view mirror y’all! It’s been an eventful year for me, both personally and also for my blog. I revived my blog from the archives in June, because I felt led to inspire other women to enjoy these prime years we call “mid-life”. I felt like I was also reviving myself as well, after struggling for a couple of years during the illness and loss of my parents. I wanted to bring back the blog to not only focus on fashion, but also the challenges and lifestyle events that happen in our midlife years.  So as my blogging year winds down, I thought it would be fun to review the style posts that I featured on my Instagram feed. I use Instagram to highlight fashion and style for us gals over the age of forty. I hope you can relate to me and my style, and that you’ll feel inspired to look at your wardrobe in a fresh, fun way. Most of my Instagram posts feature what I wear to work each day, and my wardrobe is a mash up of casual mixed with professional styles. I generally shop Chico’s, Loft, Target, department stores like Dillards and Nordstrom and several local boutiques as well as my beloved Stitch Fix.  Continue reading “2017 Style Review”

December 2017 Stitch Fix Reveal!

December 2017 Stitch Fix Reveal!

I was thrilled to receive my December Stitch Fix a few days early! You know how much I enjoy seeing that adorable little box on my front porch when I get home from work! It’s just a little box of happy waiting on me! I was hoping to do another Mother/Daughter reveal, but unfortunately my daughter is just so busy right now, wrangling sick kids and finishing up her etsy commissions, it’s impossible for her to get away. So this reveal is just me, with photos taken by my poor long suffering husband, who’s a little overwhelmed with the SLR camera. But he gave it the old college try! So here we go! Continue reading “December 2017 Stitch Fix Reveal!”
