Spring Break Style

Happy Spring! Finally!! Yippee!! Our first signal of spring is when the redbud trees start blooming, followed by the pear trees and bright yellow jonquils. Their blooms are a sweet signal that the long, dreary, wet winter might finally be in our rear view window, and pretty, sunshiny days are ahead. Only it’s the south, so we can also expect storms, tornadoes, and seasonal allergies (thank you Claritin and Flonase!!) The hubs and I decided to take a road trip to the Ozark Mountains for our Spring Break this year. We stayed at lovely, rustic Big Cedar Lodge, just south of Branson, Missouri. The trip called for a casual wardrobe, and layers, because of the iffy weather. I am usually so packing challenged y’all! But, I was inspired by the items I received in my latest Stitch Fix to use colors of pink and navy, creating a capsule wardrobe for my trip. Read on to see what I packed.

My Spring Break Wardrobe:

  • Pink Levi’s cargo jacket
  • Blue and white striped french terry tunic top
  • Pink & white french terry top
  • Pink cowl neck sweater
  • Gray camo embroidered blouse
  • Skinny jeans
  • Bootcut jeans
  • Embroidered jeans
  • White sneakers
  • Tan booties

Once I decided on my color palette for the trip, the pieces fell into place. The Levi’s jacket I received in last month’s Fix is a delicate, but happy shade of springtime pink. I was so thrilled with it, and knew it would be the perfect weight for our trip to the Ozarks. I planned my travel wardrobe around it! (tip: try planning your travel wardrobe around a “starter piece” like a jacket or sweater, and work your layers around that item of clothing)

I purchased this cute pink striped French terry crew neck top at Old Navy right before our trip. It’s a perfect match with the jacket, and it was on sale too – just 14 bucks!! (Totally on my shopping diet y’all) It matches the jacket to a tee, and is so comfy! Paired with my basic skinny jeans, and Adidas sneakers, I was ready to take on a day of exploring with the hubs. pink and camo

I found this gray camo print top by Knox Rose at Target. It has a lovely embroidery detail, (still a big trend) which gives it a nice feminine touch. I paired it with a long pink cardigan, and bootcut jeans from Old Navy. Bootcut jeans are back in a big way this spring, which is awesome news for us pear shaped girls. Woot! These are the Curvy Bootcut, and they fit my curves like a dream. They’re a great length for a bootie too. I think they’ll also be super cute with a pair of strappy sandals like the ones I featured in THIS POST. I packed the Market & Spruce tan booties I received in my January Fix. I’ve found that these booties go with absolutely everything! Shop similar here:

Pink Sweater and Jeans

The evening weather turned cool, so on our final night at the resort, I chose to wear this pink sweater I got on sale at Chico’s (no longer available) with embroidered jeans and my tan booties. Believe it or not, I found the embroidered jeans at Sam’s Club last year. Yep. Sam’s Club. I’ve found quite a few fun things to wear at Sam’s. (My favorite black jeggings are from Sam’s and I like them so much I have two pair!) Similar sweaters and jeans here:

Pink jacket and blue tunic

Finally, I wore the blue and white striped tunic from my last Fix, along with my skinnies and white sneakers. Threw on the pink Levi’s jacket and I was ready to roll. I love navy and white together, don’t you? It has a preppy vibe to it. Shop similar styles here:

I carried a pink Dooney crossbody bag the entire trip. It was liberating to not be lugging around a heavy tote the entire time! I purchased mine last year, but you can find similar styles here:

We had a wonderful time together!

We had a fabulous trip, and it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries. I hope you enjoyed my recap of what I wore, and really hope that it inspires you the next time you get to take a much needed little break. Wishing you all a very happy spring! Stop and smell the flowers, but be sure to take your Claritin!
