Styling bright sweaters in winter might seem counter-intuitive, after all, it’s the grayest, dreariest time of year. We tend to grab those blacks and grays and dark blues and even jewel tones. But hot pink? Neon yellow? Does that even make sense? Well yes, it does! Wearing a bright color can instantly elevate your mood, brighten your outlook, and even make YOU look…well…brighter! Take a look at a couple of fun sweaters I recently discovered at Target to see what I mean!

Styling Bright Sweaters in Winter | The Hot Pink Sweater
When I first saw this bright pink sweater from Target all over my Instagram feed, my heart did a flip flop and I just knew it had to be mine! And soon! I’m notorious for procrastinating, and I’ve found that’s not necessarily a good thing when you see something cute on Instagram! So I immediately popped onto my Target app and ordered that baby as quickly as I could. And the wait began…

I love the v-neck of this sweater because it’s so flattering, especially for us pear-shaped girls. Read my tips and tricks for dressing a pear shape HERE and HERE. And can we just talk about the COLOR? Because…I mean…just try to be a wallflower in this hot pink sweater! The contrasting knit detail is really pretty too. It has a slight balloon sleeve, but it’s not overwhelming like some of them out there. The balloon sleeve is a huge trend right now, so if you’re a little on the fence about trying a sweater like this one out, look for a smaller, more delicate balloon sleeve like this.

Styling Bright Sweaters in Winter | The Striped Crewneck
I was on a Target run recently when I spied this balloon-sleeve crewneck sweater. Because come on, can one actually go into Target for vitamins and dish detergent and NOT breeze through the ladies clothing? Or the jewelry? Or the make-up and hair care aisles? Of course not!

Pink and navy is a great color combination that has a preppy flare to it. I like how this sweater popped the pink up top and the darker navy at the hemline. It’s an instantly slimming style, and perfect for my pear shape. The balloon sleeve is a bit bolder on this sweater, but it works with the broad stripes. I love it! I think it will pair nicely with my bootcut cords from Stitch Fix or just a plain old pair of denim jeans.

Unfortunately, both of these sweaters sold out in nano-sesconds (I’m lucky I grabbed that striped baby on my Target run!) but I’m linking several other great choices for you. It is still available in a very happy yellow, though, so grab it before it’s gone!

I’ll leave you with these thoughts I recently shared on Instagram, “Did you know that the words love, light, and joy are each mentioned in scripture over 100 times? I think that might be more than a gentle hint as to how we should walk each day, don’t you?” So wear those bright colors in these dark days, and look to God’s light to shine on your soul, and let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
MATTHEW 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
