Stylish Monday Link Up – Go Red!

Stylish Monday Link-Up!

February is the month of hearts. Valentine hearts. Sweet hearts. Candy hearts. Chocolate hearts. And most importantly, women’s hearts! Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women? My paternal grandmother passed away from a heart attack at the age of 64. That’s sobering news for me. I had the supreme joy of being diagnosed with elevated blood pressure last year. Not sure if it’s the stresses of my job, my genetic makeup or a combination of both, but I had to add a daily dose of medicine to my morning vitamin routine, but I’m glad I caught it early. Perhaps my grandmother didn’t? That little bit of news shifted my view of diet and exercise from a focus on my figure  to a focus on my life and health. So this month’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign affects me personally. I’m thrilled to join in and take part in this Monday’s style linkup with some incredibly fashionable women who will be wearing their heart’s on their sleeves and showing you how GOOD red looks on them!

How do you wear Red? Do you dress up for a Valentine’s night out with your sweetie? Here’s a few ways I wear red and some buying info as well!

Red Sweater

I found this red sweater at TJMaxx, my new favorite shopping destination. In a longer length it’s perfect over jeggings and boots. I also wore it to work this week with trousers and red heels. I love things I can wear for work and play. More bang for the buck you know?

Here’s a few more ideas for red tops and sweaters:

I shared some holiday dressing ideas featuring the color red in this post – Holiday Fashion Capsule Wardrobe

Just ignore the Christmas tree in the photo and imagine wearing this outfit on a date with your honey, or lunch with the ladies. The trousers are from Chico’s and the top is from Stitch Fix!

I also love this red puffy vest I got from Stitch Fix awhile back. Worn with a soft blanket scarf, it’ll be perfect for hot cocoa with your sweetheart. (Dark chocolate is good for your heart! Did you know that?) You can find similar below:

Who doesn’t love a red dress? I’m on the hunt for one, just haven’t quite found what I’m looking for. A few ideas:

Here’s more information about women’s heart disease from the American Heart Association.

The stylish tee is from our local Heart Walk last November.

Take charge of your health. If you haven’t had a check-up, get one! Check your blood pressure! Monitor yourself. Take care of yourself. You only have one vessel to walk around this earth in. You need to care for it.

  1. Love all the RED!!! Great reminder about heart disease in women. You did a FAB job with your link up! Look forward to seeing more red this month. Red is a color I look good in but don’t have that much in my wardrobe.

    1. Thanks Suzanne. I don’t get to wear that vest too often, but I sure appreciate it when it’s cold!
