Red, White and Blue, and how not to dress like it’s 1992!

Hi! And Happy Fourth of July! My family’s been having the best time splashing in the pool, napping and eating. My husband introduced our grandson to the simple joys of sparklers and bottle rockets last night, and he had a “blast”! Grandkids are the best!

I thought I’d share a couple of outfit pics from last week. I felt festive!  Not too long ago, I wore star spangled denim jumpers with button covers and shoulder padded tee shirts with iron on patriotic teddy bears. Oh Lordy, we’ve come a long way girls!

For example:

That henley top and jumper was from JC Penney in case you’re interested. My mom sewed both our jumpers in that other shot. Loved it then, but now I think I look like I belong on an episode of Big Love. And my hair. No words. None. Bless my little old 1990’s heart. Hopefully I’ve learned from those tragic mistakes and moved on!

I love this little navy blue blouse I got from Nordstrom. It has a modified peplum that works great with my old lady pear shaped bod. It works well with the red pants from Chico’s. Oh, and the cute red espadrilles are Ralph Lauren brand.

On Friday I was tired, and had little imagination, so this was all shopped from the closet at 5:45 a.m. over a cup of much needed coffee.
