What to Expect When You’re (not) Expecting… Menopause

What to Expect When You’re (not) Expecting… Menopause

Remember that book we all read, back in the day, when we were expecting our first babies? Well here’s my blog version of that helpful little book, but it’s about the other fun thing that happens to us women. Hello. My name is Andy, and I survived menopause. And so did my husband. I remember when my Mom went through “the change of life” as we whispered about it, back in the day. She wore loose fitting mumus to try and stay cool, fanning furiously for no apparent reason. And of course I totally get what she was going through now! Sorry Mom! Most of my friends are still fanning themselves, and throwing off the bedsheets at night, and I’m over here on the other side of menopause waving and laughing! So let me offer a few words of encouragement to my ladies who are still cha-cha-cha-changing (and a few things to expect along the journey)! My August Stitch Fix for Fall Y’all!

My August Stitch Fix for Fall Y’all!

Happy September!

I love September. So many good things to be thankful for. My son was born in September – 30 – yes 30- years ago. I can’t even believe I’m old enough to have a 30 year old son. And he’s my youngest! Yikes! I’m overjoyed this year, because he and his wife are expecting their first child, a son. It’s so amazing that my baby is having a baby!  Also, my daughter and her hubs will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary in September. Another milestone, and encouragement that life goes on.

September also brings us cooler temps, and the realization that fall is right around the corner! It’s time to start working on those fall wardrobes, ladies! Did you read my Fall Workwear Refresh post? I shared the fall color palette with Erin, my Stitch Fix stylist, and asked her to surprise me with new pieces for my wardrobe using that color palette. And she knocked it out of the ballpark! As you view my reveal, pay attention to how well she worked those colors into this Fix. Keep reading for my Stitch Fix reveal! Preparing for the Empty Nest (while you’re still young)

Preparing for the Empty Nest (while you’re still young)

This may surprise you, but this message isn’t for those moms about to send their babies off to college, or marriage, or out into the world to spread their wings and fly. It’s actually for you busy young mamas who are in the early years of their marriage. You know who you are. You might have spit up on your yoga pants, your hair is probably in a ponytail, you don’t remember the last time you wore makeup or even left the house for something other than grocery shopping. Or you’re running that perpetual taxi service to school and dance practice and ball practice and church and birthday parties. I was you, once upon a time, not too long ago, and I know you’re super busy and overwhelmed right now, but let me tell you, if you’re not preparing your marriage for the empty nest, you’re making a huge mistake. Do I have your attention? Great! Keep reading! Continue reading “Preparing for the Empty Nest (while you’re still young)”

Fall Workwear Refresh

Fall Workwear Refresh

Happy Fall y’all! (not really, it’s August in Louisiana so….) Anyway, a girl can dream, can’t she? I just love that epic Fall issue of Vogue that comes out each year. I’m pretty certain that 98 percent of that impressive issue is ads and fragrance inserts! Even though I can’t afford much of anything in Vogue, I always get inspiration from the ideas within the pages. Think of it as a paper “mood board” for your closet. I’ve been doing a little research into the fashion trends for Fall 2017, and how I can utilize these new Fall fashion trends in my workwear. I’m excited to share what I’ve found with you!  Continue reading “Fall Workwear Refresh”
