We returned from our lovely week in New Hampshire to find that it was still in the high 80’s with a million percent humidity here at home. But yay! Our weather is finally feeling a bit more like Autumn, the days are getting shorter, and we can finally begin wearing all the fun fall fashions we’ve been dying to sport. Here in the south our fall weather is all over the place: Cool mornings, hot afternoons, wind, humidity, no humidity, rain or no rain. (Right now we desperately need rain!) Seriously. Like they say – “Wait five minutes and it will change.” I’m thankful however, because the changing season offers us an opportunity to try new styles, fashions and beauty products. Here’s a quick roundup of some of my favorites.
Leopard Print and Velvet Trend – I just picked up the Bridgette Mod Booties – A New Day by Target and I’m in serious love with them! I finally got to wear then for the first time last week, and was so happy with them. They’re the perfect heel height for me. These shoes will definitely be getting a workout in the next few months! I styled them one day last week with this cute Pleione top from Nordstrom and a pair of NYDJ skinnies.
I purchased these adorable Anne Klein “Fabulist” Leopard Print Heels for work and I’ve gotten so many compliments on them! I think of Leopard Print as a neutral, and love to pair it with whatever suits my fancy. I’m wearing them here with another hot trend – velvet. I found this little velvet top at a local boutique and it’s so adorable. As the weather cools, I’ll probably top it with a black cardigan, or maybe even a leopard print one, if I’m feeling brave! (which I probably will)
Embroidery Trend – I’m seeing embroidery everywhere! I recently picked up a cute top from Stein Mart that features beautiful embroidery. I also just found this cute embroidered olive green cargo style jacket by A New Day from Target. It’s so dang cute! And very reasonably priced!
Makeup Palettes – We’ve travelled quite a bit lately, and I’ve found that makeup palettes are a must when it comes to travelling light. One palette can contain an entire makeup look and help you simplify your routine on those early morning flights! I have this one by Mary Kay. I’ve been keeping it in my handbag for touchups at work. My consultant customized it with some of my favorite colors, and viola! Everything I need in on little compact! I splurged at the MAC counter and got this In The Flesh: Eye Shadow palette. The shades are gorgeously neutral and fully pigmented and glide on easily and wear beautifully. It runs $65 bucks, I but I’m worth it!
Fragrance – I’ve never been a “signature fragrance” girl. At any given time I may have multiple bottles of perfumes, lotions and colognes that I wear depending on what kind of mood I’m in. But I recently discovered Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir and I’m completely converted and hooked. I think I finally have a signature fragrance. I layer the cologne with the deeply scented body cream and it lasts and lasts for hours. It’s just beautiful. Love.
Skin Care – This is the time of year I always have two things happening to my skin. I’m showing the wear and tear of time spent in the sun, and my skin is beginning to feel dry as fall sets in and winter approaches. I discovered Rodan & Fields products last year, and I haven’t turned back since! They recently introduced two new products that I’m so excited about, and they also reintroduced an improved version of something I swear by! Intensive Renewing System along with the re-engineered AMP MD Micro-Exfoliating Roller will revitalize your skin. I wear eyeglasses every single day, and sometimes the skin around my eyes appears dark and tired. Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex with phytonutriends and illuminating brighteners, will keep that delicate skin under my eyes hydrated and less puffy. It launches November 2. Drop me an email or leave a comment if you’d like to be added to my waiting list to receive these exciting new products!
There you have it! My favorite things for October. Have you tried any of these? Is there a trend you can’t wait to try out? Leave a comment and let me know!
Weather here is wonky too. It was cool/fall like all last week and then the heat and humidity are back for the weekend. Just in time for the races. So not cool Mother Nature. Loving the new R+F products too!
