Mother/Daughter Stitch Fix Reveal

My daughter and I have always shopped each other’s closets. And it’s funny, because I distinctly remember doing that with my Mom. Anytime she’d come over, we’d end up in my closet, and I’d show her new tops and pants and shoes and bags, and she’d laugh, and pick through some of my other stuff, and I’d end up giving her things to take home, and then I’d do the same thing when I visited her. And now I’m doing that with my daughter. Repurposing, right? So when my Stitch Fix came, we thought it would be fun to try everything on together, showing that style has no age, and fashion is fun for all. I love how Amanda put her own spin on everything.

First up is the Nine Britton “Tanesha Distressed Neckline Tie Front Knit Top”. It’s a beautiful shade of pink, nice and stretchy and kind of slouchy for that athleisure look that’s so in now. We both tried this on. It looked much nicer on Amanda than it did on me, primarily because of where the top hit my pear shaped hips. I tried the top with the Harper Boot Cut Pant from my August Fix. She tried the top on with the super cute Driftwood “Rosalee Floral Embroidered Distressed Frayed Hem Skinny Jean”. I cannot express how stinking cute these jeans are! The embroidery is beautiful, and the frayed hem is such a current fashion trend. They’re super stretchy, and comfy. They were a bit big on Amanda, and a bit too snug on me, but we had fun trying them on!

I tried on the jeans with a cute Umgee top I purchased from a local boutique.  I just love the embroidered detail on these jeans! The embroidery trend is clearly going to continue on into the winter and spring, and I’m so glad! I just love the contrast of the feminine embroidery against the rugged distressed denim.IMG_1172

Amanda tried on the Papermoon “Eric Bell Sleeve Top”. The fabric is a light grayish blue stripe, and the little bell sleeve is adorable. It’s a bit spring like, and I was really needing more winter items, so I returned it. It was also very similar to an off the shoulder top I received in a previous fix. Amanda loved it though!

We both tried on the Eden Society “Antsla Jacket” and Mello Day “Selia Ruffle Detail Cotton Top”. The jacket is a gorgeously rich shade of mustard yellow. The funny thing about Stitch Fix is this: Sometimes the things I’m the least excited about end up being the things I keep! I really wasn’t enthused about this jacket, but it completely surpassed my expectations when I tried it on. It’s a wonderful lightweight fabric that will be perfect for most of our Louisiana winter days. I paired it with the Mello Day plaid top. I ended up not keeping the top, because it was gigantic on me, but I have several other black plaid tops that will work just as nicely with the jacket.

I love how Amanda styled the plaid top, giving it a more casual feel with her Converse shoes, skinny jeans and cute little graphic t-shirt.

The day I receive my Fix box is always fun, and it was especially fun this time because I was able to share it with my sweet daughter. We had a blast! You should give Stitch Fix a try, if you haven’t already. Be sure to use my referral code!

One last little thing. As you may know from previous blog posts, my daughter Amanda is very creative and has a wonderful little Etsy shop: Sweetfrog Print Shop. Please drop by, look around, shop small, and help support entrepreneurs and creative makers like my daughter. Here’s a sneak peak at one of her cute t-shirt designs. She also has an instagram account that she updates often, as well as a facebook page.

  1. So fun! I love that the two of you share clothes! My favorites from this fix are the jacket and the jeans! I also really love your gray sweater with the bell sleeves – so pretty!
